NCR’s COVID-19 vaccination on track to happy Christmas –Abalos

The National Capital Region's vaccination program against COVID-19 is on the right track to a happy Christmas, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairperson Benhur Abalos said on Wednesday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, MMDA's Abalos said that around 43.75% of the eligible recipients in the region are fully vaccinated, and around 76% are just waiting for their second dose.

“Opo (Yes). We are on the right track right now,” he said when asked if the Metro Manila residents can expect a happy Christmas celebration with the current status of vaccination program in the region.

Abalos said 11.7 million COVDI-19 vaccine doses have already been administered in the NCR.

Earlier, Abalos announced that local government units in Metro Manila have agreed to vaccinate each other’s residents.

NCR LGUs that are close to inoculating all their eligible recipients can start vaccinating residents outside their areas. Pateros and Mandaluyong can now start inoculation of other residents.

San Juan City is also almost finished with their vaccination. However, Abalos said San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora told him that the LGU wanted to complete their inoculation first.

Abalos said Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro also expressed that they are already close to vaccinating all their residents. —LBG, GMA News
