Over 270,000 violators recorded in NCR amid Alert Level 4 —PNP

A total of 274,231 violators have been recorded in the National Capital Region since the implementation of Alert Level 4 as of Monday, based on the data from the Philippine National Police released on Tuesday.

In an update, the PNP said 9,060 violators were newly reported.

The average daily number of violators from September 16 to October 11 is 10,547.

Around 53% of the violators were warned, 40% were fined, while 6% faced other sanctions, according to the PNP.

Of the total number, 192,900 violators, with a daily average of 7,419, have violated the minimum public health standards amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

For curfew, a total of 78,517 violators or 3,020 daily were recorded.

A total of 2,814 who are not considered authorized persons outside residence (APORs) were also caught outdoors.

NCR is under Alert Level 4 as part of the pilot testing of the implementation of the new five-level alert system, which started on September 16. The current status is in effect until October 15.

Areas under Alert Level 4 — the second highest alert level — are those with infections that are high or increasing while total beds and ICU beds are at high utilization rate.

Outdoor or al fresco dining is allowed at a maximum of 30% venue/seating capacity regardless of vaccination status of customers.

Indoor dine-in services are also allowed at a limited 10% venue/seating capacity but will cater only to individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Curfew has also been set at 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said on Saturday downgrading the Alert Level 4 in NCR to Alert Level 3 would depend on whether the current downtrend in the number of COVID-19 cases would continue. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
