No holding hands on movie dates, no popcorn eating as theaters open

Cinemas will open on Saturday after over a year but there will be no holding hands for couples out on a movie date.

Neither will there be eating popcorn while watching the film.

According to Mariz Umali’s “24 Oras” report on Thursday, patrons will be at least one seat away from each other, thus it will be difficult to hold hands.

Face masks will also be required to be worn all throughout the movie, thus, there will be no eating inside the theaters.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases has eased the community quarantine alert to level 3.

One of the establishments allowed to operate at 30% capacity are cinemas, which have been closed since March last year.

Joy Sigasig, a housekeeping staff at a theater, expressed relief as he will get back to work after almost a year and half.

“Wala kaming ibang mahanap na trabaho kasi sabi antay antay lang magbukas mahirap sa amin noong naglockdown kasi wala kaming makuhang budget,” Sigasig said.

(We can't find another job because they said just wait for the cinemas to open, it is very hard for us especially during locked down when we don't have enough budget.)

The IATF on Wednesday approved the recommendation to place the National Capital Region (NCR) under Alert Level 3 beginning October 16, 2021 until October 31, 2021.

Under Alert Level 3, several establishments will be allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity only for fully vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity, provided that all employees are fully vaccinated. -Richa Noriega/NB, GMA News
