DOTr to LRT systems passengers: Observe '7 commandments'

The Department of Transportation on Thursday reminded the passengers of the light rail transit (LRT) systems in Metro Manila  of the "7 Commandments" against COVID-19  while on the train.

DOTr's reminder came as the allowed capacity for each train coach of the three LRT systems (LTR1, LRT2, and MRT3) has been increased to 70% effective this Thursday, November 4, 2021.

The "Seven Commandments" include:

  1. ) Laging magsuot ng face mask at face shield (wear face mask, shield at all times while inside);
  2. ) Bawal magsalita at makipag-usap sa telepono (talking, chatting, and phone calls are prohibited);
  3. ) Bawal kumain (eating is prohibited);
  4. ) Laging panatilihin ang maayos at sapat na ventilation sa mga pampublikong transportasyon (ensure adequate ventilation inside pubic transport vehicles) ;

  6. ) Laging magsagawa ng disinfection (regular disinfection);
  7. ) Bawal sumakay ang mga pasaherong mayroong sintomas ng COVID-19 (passengers with symptoms are not allowed); and
  8. ) Laging sundin ang panuntunan sa appropriate physical distancing (observe physical distancing).

Earlier, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), approved the increase to 70% of the allowed capacity, which is under one-month pilot implementation starting November 4.

According to the DOTr, the increase in the allowed passenger capacity for the light rail transit system is due to the increase in public transport demand as several establishments are gradually opening under the more relaxed Alert Level 3 System restrictions in  Metro Manila.

Citing data from several studies, the DOTr said the vaccination rate in Metro Manila continues to rise, and is presently at 81.4%. —LBG, GMA News
