Misamis Oriental congressman succumbs to cancer


MANILA, Philippines - The 14th Congress lost another member from the Lower House after a representative of Misamis Oriental succumbed to lung and liver cancer over the weekend. Radio dzBB's Rowena Salvacion reported Monday that Misamis Oriental Rep. Danilo Lagbas (1st district, Lakas-CMD) passed away Saturday at age 56. Lagbas, born Jan. 25, 1952, was on his second term. His remains were flown to his home province before dawn Monday. He chaired the House committee on small business and entrepreneurship development, and was vice chairman of the legislative franchise and rural development committees. Lagbas was the fourth member of the Lower House in the 14th Congress to die, after Victor Dominguez (Mt. Province, cardiac arrest), Wahab Akbar (Basilan, bombing); and Anakpawis Rep.
