Afuang gets surprise visit from Mayor Lim at police station

MANILA, Philippines — Former policeman and mayor Abner Afuang, who spent Thursday night in a police station for disrupting a Senate hearing, got a surprise visit Friday from a former anti-crime colleague: Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim. Radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported that Lim paid a quick visit to Afuang at the Pasay City police office to "sympathize" with his situation. The report said Lim told Afuang he understood his emotional outburst that led him to pour bottled water on celebrity doctor Hayden Kho Jr. at a Senate hearing on the Kho – Katrina Halili sex video scandal. Lim narrated that he and Afuang worked together against crime when Lim headed the Manila Police District and the National Bureau of Investigation in the early ‘90s. Afuang was a policeman at the time. On Thursday, Senate security arrested Afuang for dousing Kho Jr. with bottled water, and brought him to the Pasay City police station, where Afuang spent the night. Afuang apologized to the Senate but said he did not regret his action against Kho. “Never," he told reporters when asked if he would apologize to Kho for giving him a late afternoon bath in public. The report said Lim left immediately after the brief visit. - GMANews.TV
