Bayani says teaming up with Gordon being discussed

A possible tandem between former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando and Sen. Richard Gordon for the 2010 election is still in the works. Fernando said that as of Sunday, his and Gordon’s camps are still in discussions for their possible team-up. “May pag-uusap talaga, di ko itatanggi yan sa ibang kampo. Patuloy pa ang pag-uusap namin ni Senator Gordon (We are still talking. I will not deny such talks)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. He did not give further details on the possible team-up, but added they are still looking for a way to communicate their platform to the people. Fernando is pushing through with his presidential bid despite losing to then Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. as standard bearer of the administration Lakas-Kampi-CMD. On the other hand, Gordon had come up with television ads on volunteerism, but has not made clear his plans for the 2010 elections. But the senator had earlier expressed inclination to run for president. Meanwhile, Fernando said he sees no problem with his successor at the MMDA, Oscar Inocentes, who he said is capable of continuing his work at the agency. “He is a long-time friend. I am sure he can get the job done. I have no doubt the MMDA can continue to work even without me," he said. - GMANews.TV
