Lawmaker to Marlene Aguilar: Go see a shrink

An unsolicited advice for Marlene Aguilar: Go see a psychiatrist. The advice came from Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros, a senatorial aspirant who at the same time expressed strong disapproval over Aguilar’s staunch defense of her son, murder suspect Jason Ivler. "Nauunawaan ko yung damdamin niya bilang ina pero sumusubora na talaga. Baka kelangan na rin niya ng suporta sa pamamagitan ng psychiatric na assistance para mailagay sa tuwid yung mga actuations niya sa publiko," Hontiveros at a press briefing Monday. (Her actuation as a mother is too much. Perhaps she should get psychiatric assistance to correct her actuation in public.)

Ivler, 28, was arrested by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents last Monday for the Nov. 18 killing of Renato Ebarle Jr., son of Presidential Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., over a traffic altercation in Quezon City. Aguilar, a book author and sister of folk singer Freddie Aguilar, claimed that Ivler has been framed up despite strong evidence linking him to the murder. She dismissed Hontiveros’ statement. "I'm really not interested in the lawmaker’s comments," she said, adding that her only concern these days is Jason. Aguilar claimed to have published 11 books defending Philippine art and culture. "Ang tumatawag sa akin na baliw (To those who are calling me crazy), what have they done for their country?" she said in an interview over ABS-CBN’s The Buzz on Sunday. - Johanna Camille Sisante/KBK, GMANews.TV
