Libyan Embassy in PHL celebrates Gaddafi’s ‘imminent downfall’
As Libyan rebels continue their siege of Gaddafiâs military fortress in Tripoli, the Office of the Libyan Embassy in Makati City brought down Gaddafiâs green design-less flag, according to a report by Jiggy Manicad in GMA Newsâ â24 Oras." The Embassy then raised the old Libyan flag, which has three colors and a crescent moon and star in the middle. The flag was the Libyan civil war, the report said. Employees at the Embassy and Libyan students studying in the Philippines joined the celebration, shouting âGaddafi no more!" and âfreedom," the report added. The report also said pictures of Gaddafi were also destroyed. No one from the Embassy, however, granted GMA News an interview. The report used photos taken by Filipino photojournalist Dennis Sabangan of the European Press Photo Agency. Despite the siege of his stronghold, Gaddafi, however, was nowhere to be found. A Reuters report quoted the embattled leader as saying that his withdrawal from his headquarters was a tactical move after it had been hit by 64 NATO air strikes. Rebels said Gaddafiâs downfall is imminent. - KBK, GMA News
