Rep. Iggy Arroyo removed from life support, dies — report

(Updated 6:52 p.m.) Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio “Iggy" Arroyo Jr. passes away Thursday after he was removed from life support, a report on GMA News' "24 Oras" said. Iggy's brother, former First Gentleman Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo, earlier confirmed that his brother has been declared "clinically dead" at a London hospital. Mike Arroyo, husband of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, corrected his earlier statement that his younger brother had already died in the United Kingdom due to a lingering illness. Iggy Arroyo became widely known in 2003 when the controversy over the multi-million peso Jose Pidal account, believed to be owned by Mike, erupted. At a court hearing, Iggy claimed he owned the account.
