Palace: Oct. 31 half-day off not likely

Malacañang said it is not likely that it will declare a half-day off at workplaces and schools on October 31.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Sunday Filipinos will have enough time to pay their respects to their dearly departed because of the long weekend.

“Walang anunsyo sa October 31. Baka wala na talaga yan, as much as I would like wala akong narinig na ugong na half-day (There is no announcement for October 31. It is no longer likely an announcement will be made. As much as I would like to, I have not heard anything in the Palace about making an announcement for Oct. 31),” she said on government-run dzRB radio.

But she reiterated Filipinos will have enough time to visit the cemeteries and pay respects to their departed loved ones.

This year’s Undas starts November 1, Thursday, and ends November 4, Sunday.

“Mahaba naman ang weekend from Thursday to Sunday (The Undas weekend will be a long one, from Thursday to Sunday),” she said.
