PNoy's satisfaction rating dips but remains 'very good'—pollster SWS

(Updated 3:12 p.m.) - President Benigno Aquino III will end 2012 on a "very good" note, though with a dip in his performance ratings, according to a new survey by pollster Social Weather Stations. The latest SWS survey conducted Dec. 8 to 11 showed Aquino getting a net satisfaction rating of +55 (72 percent satisfied, minus 17 percent dissatisfied). While this was down 12 points from the +67 (77 percent satisfied, minus 10 percent dissatisfied) in August, the +55 was still considered "very good." It also brought Aquino's annual average rating to a "very good" +53, the same as his score in 2011. However, this was nine points below the highest +62 ("very good") annual average which he got in 2010 – also the highest yearly average since he assumed office three years ago. SWS classifies net satisfaction scores of +70 and above as excellent; +50 to +69, very good; +30 to +49, good; +10 to +29, moderate; +9 to -9, neutral; -10 to -29, poor; -30 to -49, bad; -50 to -69, very bad; and -70 and below, execrable. The latest SWS survey were published Friday on the pollster's media partner BusinessWorld. 'Sustained belief and trust' Malacañang welcomed the news Friday.  "We thank our people for their sustained belief and trust in the President's leadership. Much more needs to be done," said Secretary Herminio Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations Office in a text message sent to GMA News Online. "We call for even greater solidarity and a heightened sense of common purpose so we can attain a brighter future for our next generation," he added. Fall in all areas The SWS survey also said Aquino's scores fell in all areas – socioeconomic classes and gender. In Luzon, the Visayas, Balance Luzon (or Luzon excluding Metro Manila), rural areas and among the ABC class, Aquino's net ratings went down from "excellent" to "very good." Dips in Aquino's net satisfaction rating by area: Rural satisfaction went down to +60 ("very good") from +70 ("excellent"), while urban satisfaction fell to +49 ("good") from +65 ("very good") in August. By socioeconomic class, Aquino’s net rating fell 14 points among the ABC to +64; by 14 points among the D class to +54; and by six points among Class E to +56. Among men, satisfaction stayed "very good" with a net score of +56, but down 11 points from August. Among women, satisfaction was "very good" at +55, though 12 points lower. The SWS survey interviewed 1,200 adults nationwide and had sampling error margins of ±3% for national and ±6% for area percentages. More Filipinos hopeful
