Jesuit missionary Father James Reuter laid to rest

Nearly a week after he passed away, the late Jesuit missionary Fr. James Reuter was laid to rest in Quezon City on Saturday.

Reuter was buried at the Sacred Heart Novitiate in Novaliches, Quezon City at 11:00 a.m., radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported.

A funeral Mass was held for him earlier on Saturday at the Ateneo de Manila University campus, with Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle among those present.
Reuter, known for his work on radio, TV and stage, died at Our Lady of Peace Hospital, a hospital he built to serve the poor in the area, in Parañaque City on Dec. 31. He had served as executive secretary of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Social Communications and Mass Media (ECSCMM). He also chaired the National Office of Mass Media for decades.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines mass media commission executive secretary Fr. Francis Lucas said Reuter set the tone for media ethics in the Philippines. - VVP, GMA News
