DepEd ready to conduct National Achievement Test in March — Sec. Luistro

The Department of Education (DepEd) will conduct the 2012-2013 National Achievement Test (NAT) in March for selected levels of elementary and high school students in public and private schools nationwide.

NAT is administered annually to measure the academic performance in key subjects of elementary and secondary students in both public and private schools.

DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro said the schedule of NAT is as follows:

- March 6: for fourth year students of public and private schools

- March 12: for Grade 3 pupils of public and Madrasah schools

- March 13: for Grade IV pupils of public and private schools

Only private elementary and secondary schools with permits to operate from DepEd shall be included in the conduct of the test, Luistro said.

Each examinee in Grade IV NAT shall be issued a Certificate of Rating (COR) per subject area. The CORwill reflect the examinee’s readiness for secondary education.

Conference on standardized administration

Meanwhile, the DepEd's National Education and Testing Research Center (NETRC) will conduct the national conference on the standardized administration of the NAT, the Test of English Proficiency for Teachers (TEPT) and the Process Skills Test (PST).

“Our goal here is to update information and resolve issues and concerns in the conduct of tests,” said Luistro.  — ELR, GMA News
