Tenant of condo unit in Serendra blast 'getting better'
Angelito San Juan, the tenant of the condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) where a deadly explosion occurred last May 31, is "getting better" but still needs treatment, his legal counsel said Friday.
"Medical updates as of (June 13) 5 p.m.: getting better! Oxygen support reduced from 35 (percent) to 30 (percent)," said Raymond Fortun in a text message to GMA News anchor Arnold Clavio.
"Areas of skin healing well so they can be harvested to repair badly damaged areas; slowly out of sedated state given pain medication," he added.
San Juan, tenant of unit 501B in Two Serendra condominium, "remains stable" but still intubated and needs dialysis, Fortun also said.
San Juan, who was confined at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City, is being treated for the burns he sustained in the explosion that left three people dead and investigators blame on gas leak.
From being considered a “person of interest” after the blast, San Juan was cleared of any involvement when the results of the inter-agency probe on the incident were released on June 7.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas II on Thursday announced that mandatory safety checks on buildings in BGC that use piped-in gas systems are impending. He said this was to ensure the safety of tenants in these buildings following the blast. — Gian C. Geronimo/KBK, GMA News
