AFP units deployed to secure barangay polls on red alert


Units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines tasked to ensure security in Monday's barangay elections went on red alert Sunday morning.

AFP public affairs office deputy chief Maj. Angelo Guzman said:


On Monday, Filipinos will troop to polling centers to elect their village officials.

Meanwhile, the Comelec issued last-minute reminders to voters, including not wearing campaign clothing and taking photos of their filled-up ballots.

Comelec spokesman James Arthur Jimenez also advised voters to bring a valid ID "just in case" it may be needed.

"Not necessary to bring valid ID, but bring one just in case. Kahit di (Even if it is not a) Voter's ID," Jimenez said.

He also said voters need not use a pencil to vote, but can use the pen provided. He also reminded voters to "write legibly" and write the candidates' full name.

"Do NOT take a picture of your accomplished or filled-up ballot," he added.

Jimenez also warned campaign clothing will not be allowed.

"The wearing of campaign clothing –  including chalekos – are NOT ALLOWED in the polling centers and polling places," he said.  — LBG, GMA News
