Legarda: US Secretary of State Kerry to push through with PHL visit in December

US Secretary of State John Kerry will push through with his visit to the Philippines in December, Senator Loren Legarda announced on Wednesday during the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) budget deliberations at the Senate.

"Allow me to give you information that Secretary Kerry is indeed coming in two weeks' time," Legarda said after conferring with DFA officials present at the Senate plenary.

Kerry's visit to the Philippines was postponed last October due to Tropical Storm Santi.

"When Secretary Kerry comes, hopefully he will not be welcomed by a typhoon," Legarda quipped after making the announcement on the US official's visit.

US President Barack Obama was also supposed to visit Manila last month, but had to cancel due to the American government shutdown at the time. — BM, GMA News
