New Customs chief, other officials take oath before PNoy


(Updated 11:25 a.m.) The new head and other officials of the Bureau of Customs took their oaths before President Benigno Aquino III on Monday.
 
Customs Commissioner John "Sunny" Sevilla, along with deputy commissioners Jessie Dellosa (Intelligence Group) and Ariel Nepomuceno (Enforcement Group), took their oaths during a ceremony at the Palace.
 
Sevilla's appointment was made last Dec. 9 and was announced on Dec. 12.
 
Sevilla replaced Commissioner Ruffy Biazon, who stepped down after having been named by the Department of Justice as a respondent together with 33 others in a malversation complaint over the pork barrel scam.

On the other hand, former AFP chief Dellosa replaced Danilo Lim, who resigned a day after President Aquino called out during his last State of the Nation Address (SONA) the Bureau of Customs for its dismal performance.
 
Nepomuceno, meanwhile, replaced Dellosa in the latter's previous post as deputy commissioner for the Enforcement Group.

Aside from the BOC officials, 26 other executives from various departments also took their oaths during Monday's ceremony.
