Palace: Olympic skater Martinez's courtesy call on PNoy being scheduled

After bringing honor to the Philippines in the Sochi Winter Olympics, figure skater Michael Christian Martinez will pay a courtesy call on President Benigno Aquino III, Malacañang said Sunday.

But Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr. said the details are still being determined as Aquino has a hectic schedule this week.

"Medyo hectic ang schedule ng pangulo sa darating na linggo dahil sa pagdiriwang ng EDSA-1 at pagpunta sa Malaysia para sa state visit," he said on government-run dzRB radio.

He said the Philippine Sports Commission already made a request for a courtesy call by Martinez.

Martinez is scheduled to arrive home Sunday afternoon, after earning honor and respect for the Philippines with his performance in the Olympics.

"Ang batid ko, nagpadala ng request ang Philippine Sports Commission. Inaalam na natin sa Tanggapan ng Pangulo kung kailan ang mainam na panahon para sa pagkakaroon ng courtesy call ni G. Michael Martinez," Coloma said.

Earlier, Coloma said Aquino will be marking the 28th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA Revolution in the provinces, including those hit by recent calamities.

Also, he said Aquino will have a two-day state visit to Malaysia on Feb. 27 and 28. — LBG, GMA News
