PNoy, Ka Eduardo Manalo unveil marker for Ciudad de Victoria

President Benigno Aquino III and Iglesia Ni Cristo Executive Minister Bro. Eduardo Manalo on Monday unveiled the marker of Ciudad De Victoria, home of the Philippine Arena, the world's largest indoor arena.

Among the government officials spotted accompanying Aquino were Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson. The ceremony lasted less than five minutes.

Ciudad De Victoria, which means "City of Victory" in English, was described in the marker as a testament to Iglesia ni Cristo's "support for the promotion of Philippine culture and arts, sports and eco-tourism."

The centerpiece of the 50-hectare complex is the Philippine Arena, which will also be inaugurated Monday.

The arena, which was built at the cost of more than $200 million or roughly P7.8 billion, has a maximum capacity of 55,000.

It was designed by Populous, the firm that designed the state-of-the-art O2 Arena in London.

INC will hold its centennial celebration at the arena on Sunday, July 27. —KG, GMA News
