Comelec orders update of SK voters’ list ahead of registration

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ordered all election officers to update the current list of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters before the scheduled voters' registration in September.

According to Comelec Resolution No. 9896, election officers are tasked to identify voters who are already 18 years or will be turning 18 on or before election day on February 21, 2015.

The resolution noted that the Comelec has earlier conducted an SK voter registration. However, the 2013 SK elections were postponed.

"Due to the lapse of time, there are voters listed in the SK Computerized Lists of Voters, who turned beyond the mandatory ages of 15 to 17, hence, there is a need to identify voters turning 18 years old on or before February 21, 2015," it explained.

The election officers are directed "to submit the list to the Election Registration Board (ERB) on October 20, 2014, after the conduct of Incremental SK Registration of Voters, for deletion."

Comelec has set the SK registration from September 20 to 29 in Offices of Election Officers (OEOs) of every city/municipality.
