Comelec reminder: Voter registration resumes Monday

After a two-week break, the Commission on Elections will resume its voters' registration on Jan. 5, the first working day of the year.

Comelec spokesman James Arthur Jimenez said Filipinos who want to vote in the 2016 elections may register and validate their biometrics at their local Comelec offices.

"#VoterReg2015 starts January 5, 2015. You can REGISTER, TRANSFER REGISTRATION, CHANGE NAME, and VALIDATE #BIOMETRICS at your local COMELEC," he said in a tweet.

Last Dec. 20, the Comelec suspended the registration of voters for the holidays.

Comelec Resolution No. 9853 provides the schedule and mechanics for exercising the right to vote in the synchronized national and local polls on May 9, 2016.

The filing of voter registration-related applications started last May 6 and ends Oct. 31, 2015. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
