Junjun Binay, 2 others brought to session hall despite his opposition

After three hours, the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee on Thursday ordered Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay Jr. and two other personalities be brought to the session hall despite their opposition.

Panel chairman Senator Aquilino Pimentel III said the purpose of the arrest on the three was to bring them to the session hall to attend the hearing on alleged anomalies including the supposed overpricing in the Makati City Hall Building II project.

Lawyer Claro Certeza opposed the order, saying his clients were unwilling to come to the session hall.

Binay, present city administrator Eleno Mendoza, and former city administrator Marjorie De Veyra were brought to the hall by the sergeant at arms. He and his father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, are being linked to the anomalies.

Binay's supporters at the gallery voiced their displeasure upon seeing the mayor being brought inside.
