NPA rebels burn seven trucks in Bukidnon

(Updated 3:32 p.m.) Suspected New People's Army rebels attacked and burned at least seven trucks in Bukidnon province on Sunday.

 

Police said the incident occurred early morning in Barangay Palacapao in Quezon town in Bukidnon, GMA Northern Mindanao reported.

 

GMA Northern Mindanao posted photos from the Army's 8th Infantry Battalion and Civil Military Operations 403rd Brigade showing some the trucks gutted.

 

A vehicle of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 10 sustained damage from gunfire.

Meanwhile, the military condemned the incident, stressing that such atrocities "have proven that the NPA has become a dreaded bandit gang that extorts money among businessmen and motorists who are plying the Bukidnon-Davao highway."

"We will help the PNP in bringing the suspects to justice by filing charges against the perpetrators and in serving arrest warrants," military information chief Lt. Col.  Harold Cabunoc said in a statement issued Monday. — Joel Locsin/NB/RSJ, GMA News
