Inflation, workers’ pay still Pinoys’ top concerns – Pulse Asia
By ANDREO CALONZO, GMA News
(Updated 1:49 p.m.) Economic issues continue to be of foremost concern to Filipinos, a Pulse Asia survey revealed Tuesday.
The poll, conducted earlier this month on 1,200 Filipino adults, showed that controlling inflation continue to be the top concern of almost half of the respondents (46 percent).
Increasing workers' pay was in close second, with 44 percent saying it should be a government priority.

Four in every 10 Filipinos, meanwhile, were concerned fighting corruption in government.
Also among the top national concerns were poverty reduction (37 percent) and job creation (34 percent).
“Filipinos continue to be most concerned about economic-related issues. Their sense of urgency regarding selected national issues remains unchanged between November 2014 and March 2015 as well as year-on-year," Pulse Asia said in its report of its survey findings.
Pulse Asia likewise noted that the administration failed to score a majority approval rating in all issues mentioned in its survey.
In Malacañang, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. vowed that President Benigno Aquino III’s government will address the public’s concerns through good governance.
“In the next 15 months, the administration will intensify efforts at job creation while maintaining fiscal discipline in order to rein in inflation. Good governance is imperative in achieving inclusive growth,” Coloma said in a text message.
In a speech earlier in the day, President Aquino also vowed to sustain the country’s economic growth.
"The tremendous amount of confidence the global community has developed towards the Philippines is incredibly gratifying, especially considering that not too long ago, we were considered the sick man of Asia,” Aquino said in his speech.
"Our administration remains hard at work so that we can maximize all opportunities available to us. I think many of you will agree with me when I say, you ain’t seen nothing yet,” he added. — RSJ, GMA News
