Roxas not even thinking of being VP Binay's running mate in 2016

Interior Secretary Mar Roxas has shot down any chance that he would even consider being the running mate of Vice President Jejomar Binay in the 2016 elections, a report from GMA's “24 Oras” said on Friday.

“Kahit kailan, kahit papaano hinding hindi po ako sasama sa hindi daang matuwid. Doon po ako sa daang matuwid, sa malinis, walang mansta, walang bahid ng kahit anogn korupsyon sa kanilang pagseserbisyo,” Roxas said in a multisectoral assembly in Dagupan City, Pangasinan province.

Binay has reportedly said that he is open to having Roxas as his vice presidential candidate in the 2016 elections.

Secretary Roxas said his plans for the 2016 elections will depend on the decision of the President Benigno Aquino III and the ruling Liberal Party.

“Kung ano man ang pagpasya ni PNoy handa naman akong tumulong sa kahit ano mang paraan para pagpatuloy ito,” he said.

While that decision has yet to be publicly announced, local leaders in Dagupan are already introducing him as "the next President" and that introduction is met with resounding applause.

The LP has yet to choose a standard bearer and still has ongoing consensus building sessions to determine the a possible candidate. Roxas is being touted as one of the possible choices.

Roxas also denied that there was any truth to reports saying that the president told him to do better in the surveys.
