PNoy in Vancouver for last leg of Canada state visit

VANCOUVER, Canada — President Benigno Aquino III is now in Vancouver for the last leg of his 3-day state visit to Canada.

Aquino and his delegation arrived a little past noon at the Vancouver International Airport.

The President was scheduled to meet with British Columbia Premier Honorable Christy Clark.

Later, the President will have a meeting with the Filipino community in Vancouver.

This is Aquino's first state visit to Canada, upon the invitation of Governor General David Johnston.

In Ottawa on Friday (Manila time), officials announced that discussions have been done for increasing commerce between the two nations by lowering trade barriers, a report on Agence France-Presse said.

AFP added that the negotiations were part of a push by Canada to develop bilateral economic agreements in Asia as progress has slowed on the twelve-country North American-Asia Pacific trade accord, known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership. — LBG, GMA News
