Duterte says he was too young to complain about priest’s abuse

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Friday indicated that he was too young to think about filing a complaint when he was allegedly sexually abused by a priest during his high school years at the Ateneo De Davao.

"First year, magreklamo ka? Takot ka baka ikaw pa ang ma-whack," the 70-year-old Duterte said when asked why he didn't complain when the abuse supposedly happened.

Duterte, however, said that he was not upset with all members of the clergy.

He said three priests who are close to him had told him that Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles wanted to talk to him and he's willing to meet the prelate.

"Pinatawag ako. Walang akong magawa. In matters of religion, may away nga naman ako pero pag sinabi ng bishop na halika rito mag-usap tayo, wala akong magawa. I have to go there," Duterte said.

"I am a member of his flock. I have not changed religion, still a Christian, and I have this deep and abiding faith in God. I only have one God," he added. -NB, GMA News
