Roxas ignores Duterte’s wish, greets Davao mayor on 71st birthday

Administration standard bearer Mar Roxas chose to ignore another wise crack from Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on his 71st birthday and just wished the PDP-Laban presidential candidate many happy returns.

In a chance interview in Manila, Roxas was asked by the media for his thoughts on Duterte’s wish for other presidential candidates to reach the age of 120. Duterte said it must be quite difficult to live at that age.

Roxas just gave a curt, "Happy birthday, many happy returns to him."

Roxas and Duterte appear to have a love-hate relationship. Both candidates consider the other a friend but don't seem to pull their punches when it comes to criticisms.

Two Sundays ago in the last presidential debate in Cebu, Duterte called Roxas pretentious and a fraud while Roxas said that Duterte's brand of justice was one in which the truth is whatever Duterte chooses to believe. —Kathrina Charmaine Alvarez/ NB, GMA News
