Duterte’s ex-wife bares who next First Lady will be if Digong wins

Members of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's family have agreed that his daughter Sara would serve as First Lady if he wins the presidential elections in May, Duterte's ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman said on Thursday.

Zimmerman made the disclosure during a birthday lunch with Sara and several campaign volunteers in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

The group has been traveling around the Visayas and Mindanao on a bus to campaign for Duterte.

Duterte said in an earlier interview on Super Radyo DZBB that Sara, who once served as Davao City mayor, could be his First Lady.

However, Duterte also said he could also have two First Ladies – his first wife Zimmerman and his partner Honeylet Avancena, a former nurse in the US.

Duterte has three children with Zimmerman—Sara, Paolo, and Sebastian—and one daughter, Veronica, with Avancena.

On his Certificate of Candidacy (COC), Duterte listed himself as single because his marriage with Zimmerman has been officially annulled.

He is not married to Avancena.

Zimmerman has said that she and Duterte remained friends despite the annulment.

"We remained good friends despite the annulment of our marriage. Some people are negative about it, I know. But he is still the father of my children -- that is why we remained friends," she said.

Zimmerman is a Stage 3 cancer patient. She suspended her radiation treatments to lead a parallel campaign for her ex-husband. —NB, GMA News
