Sara Duterte says she too was raped; not offended by dad Digong’s ‘joke’

Sara Duterte on Monday took to her Instagram account to admit that she was also a rape victim.

Sara, herself a former mayor of Davao City, also commented, "Day 14. Finally said it. Good morning."

"Not a joke. I am a rape victim. But I will still vote for President Rodrigo Duterte," Sara said on her social media account as criticisms of her father continued to mount over recent remarks about the rape in 1989 of an Australian missionary.

Sought for further comment, Sara said she believed her father could still deliver if elected president.

"I take no offense sa joke niya kasi I still believe na he can perform," Sara said in an interview over GMA News TV's State of the Nation.

Sara, nonetheless, said that what Duterte said in recalling the rape of the missionary "was a really bad joke."

As regards her rape, Sara said, "My parents do not know about it. It was a long time ago. Immaterial siya sa akin."

"Wala akong sinabihan kasi at the time hindi ko siya maintindihan pa. Nahiya akong magsabi," Sara said. —NB/JST, GMA News
