No time for love for Duterte's chief aide

Tailing  the most popular mayor of the land is no easy job.

Being at the beck and call of Davao City Mayor and now presumptive President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, has cost Christopher “Bong” Go his love life.

Go, the mayor's long-time executive assistant,  admitted that he has no time for love.

A report by GMA News reporter Tina Panganiban-Perez on Monday said the 41-year-old familiar face behind Duterte does not even have time for his family, much more having a love life.

“Wala na po. Wala na po. Kawawa, kawawa. Kawawa talaga ako. Maawa naman kayo,” he said.

Go has become a common fixture throughout Duterte’s campaign that some even referred to him as the new “Pambansang Photobomber”.

Go's affinity with the tough-talking mayor goes way back to 1998, the year he became Duterte’s executive assistant.

Go’s grandfather, August Tesoro, owns the biggest printing press in Davao City.

Tesoro was also one of the principal sponsors when Duterte wed Elizabeth Zimmerman.

Go, who graduated from De La Salle University with a Management degree, is on top of the mayor’s day to day affairs. He takes care of the mayor's appointments, itinerary, phone calls, and even his meals.

His 24/7 access to the mayor makes him virtually one of the most influential in Duterte's power circle, but Go was quick to downplay this.

“Utility man lang po. Tiga-linis. All around man,” he said.

“Kailangan naming sumali kasi ako yung nakakaalam paano ililipat iyong gamit niya. Iyon lang iyong role ko. Kaya nga utility man. Dalahin mo lahat. Buhatin mo lahat. Linisin mo yung naiwan,” he added.

And just like Duterte, Go also love telling funny stories.

He even shared a private joke he had with President Benigno Aquino III who once said he looks like former Agriculture secretary  now Bohol Rep. Arthur Yap.

“Sabi niya, Art, o kumusta? Hindi na kita tatawaging Art ha. Bong na ha,” he said quoting the President.

And just like his boss, Go will soon be headed for Malacañang. — APG, GMA News
