Duterte to implement nationwide liquor ban, no-smoking policy
By TRISHA MACAS, GMA News
DAVAO CITY - Presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte, who ran on a federalism platform, said on Sunday that he was going to implement a liquor ban and no-smoking policy all over the Philippines.
Duterte added that the sale of alcohol could be prohibited as early as 10 p.m.
"We need legislation for that. The Congress can give it to me so I can this country--more in keeping with the behaved society," he explained.
As to whether 10 p.m. was too early, Duterte said, "You have the whole day. Magbili ng isang truck ng beer."
However, he later relented and said the liquor ban would begin at 2 a.m.
