Robredo says she’ll fulfill promises with or without post from Duterte

Vice President-elect Leni Robredo on Tuesday night said she will try to fulfill her campaign promises with or without an appointment to the Cabinet from President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

"Iginagalang natin ang ginawang pagpili ni Pangulong Duterte ng mga taong bubuo ng kanyang Gabinete. Bilang pangulo, nasa kapangyarihan niya ang mamili ng mga taong makakatulong niya sa pagpapatakbo ng pamahalaan," Robredo said.

"Subalit may posisyon man o wala, sisikapin kong matupad ang mga pangakong binitiwan ko sa ating mga kababayan sa abot ng aking makakaya," he added.

During his press conference in Davao City on Tuesday night, Duterte said that he was still undecided on whether to appoint Robredo to his Cabinet owing to his relationship with defeated vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.

“Alam mo, wala ako talaga. I am non-committal ako diyan. You know why? Kilala ko si Bongbong Marcos, I do not want to hurt him," Duterte said.

"Si Leni, she should understand that she belongs to the opposite side. There is no law that exists that is a compelling reason for her to be a member of the Cabinet,” he added.

Robredo edged out Marcos for the vice presidency by a slim margin. The Marcos camp is still considering whether or not to file a formal protest to try to overturn the result.

Duterte said no meeting between him and Robredo has been set yet.

“Baka maghingi siya. Speculative," he said.

Pressed about what role in his Cabinet he thinks is fit for Robredo, Duterte just replied: "We are still studying the script of the movie." —NB, GMA News
