Bataan Vice Gov-elect Garcia passes away


Bataan Vice Governor-elect Enrique "Tet" Garcia Jr. passed away Monday evening, his son Bataan Governor Albert Garcia said. He was 75.

"Our family is deeply saddened to inform you that our beloved father, Cong Enrique Tet Garcia Jr. joined our Creator on June 13, 2016 at 10:42 pm. Please pray for the eternal repose of his soul," the Bataan governor said in a post on his Facebook account.

There is no immediate information on Garcia's cause of death.

The elder Garcia is the incumbent Bataan representative and ran unopposed in the May 2016 polls just like his sons Albert, Balanga City Mayor Joet Garcia, who will the new congressman in the 2nd District, and Francis Garcia, who will assume the post of Joet.

He served in the 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Congress.

Bataan Representative-elect Geraldine Roman and supporters sent their condolences to the Garcia family.

"Sa ngalan ng aking ina, Cong. Minia Roman, at mula na rin sa aming magkakapatid, ay taus-puso naming pinaabot ang aming pakikiramay sa Pamilya Garcia sa pagyao ng isang mabuti at magiting na lingkod-bayan sa katauhan ni former governor and congressman Enrique "Tet" Garcia," she said in a comment on Governor Garcia's post.

She said the elder Garcia's vision and hard work paved the way for the progress that Bataan is enjoying now.

"We will surely miss the good person that he was. I will always remember his sense of humor, good example and the kindness he has shown to my family especially during our difficult times. How I wish I had the chance to work with him and learn from the wealth of his experience. Sa inyo, Tita Vicky Garcia, Ma'am Anna, Gov. Abet Garcia, Mayor Gila Garcia, Cong. Joet Garcia, Mayor Francis Garcia, ang aming pakikiramay at mga panalangin," she said. —ALG, GMA News
