Abu Sayyaf kidnap victim Marites Flor now in military custody

A military official confirmed on Friday that one of the hostages of the Abu Sayyaf is now in the custody of the military.

Maj. Filemon Tan, spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom), told reporters that Filipina kidnap victim Marites Flor is in the custody of the Joint Task Force Sulu.

Tan said the Abu Sayyaf released Flor at around 4:30 a.m. Friday in front of the residence of Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan in Brgy. Asturias in Jolo.

At 11 a.m., she was turned over to JTF Sulu and underwent a medical checkup.

"She is physically okay," said Tan.

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is set to meet Flor in Davao City on Friday afternoon, GMA News' Cedric Castillo reported.

Flor was abducted from a posh resort on Samal Island in Davao del Norte on Sept. 21 last year and was later brought to Sulu.

Also abducted with Flor were Canadians Robert Hall and John Ridsdel, and Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad.

Hall and Ridsdel were confirmed beheaded by the rebel group after the deadline for the ransom payment passed.

Ridsdel was beheaded last April 25, while Hall was executed on June 13—KG, GMA News
