PNoy’s sisters to skip Leni Robredo’s inauguration; Roxas yet to confirm

President Benigno Aquino's sisters, some of Leni Robredo's ardent supporters during the campaign, have decided to skip her inauguration on June 30, a spokesperson for the vice president-elect told reporters on Monday.

Georgina Ann Hernandez said she was unaware of the reason for the sisters' decision not to attend Robredo’s oath-taking but surmised that they might like to join their brother when he leaves Malacañang.

“Baka kasama nila ang kanilang kapatid, kasi si President Aquino ay nandoon sa inagurasyon ni President-elect  [Rodrigo] Duterte. Mayroon silang turnover at pagkatapos noon ay may sarili na silang schedule, mga activity," Hernandez said.

"Siguro gusto nilang at mas gusto nilang samahan ang kanilang kapatid na babalik na sa pribadong buhay,” she added.

Aquino’s four sisters— Ballsy, Pinky, Viel and Kris— all actively campaigned for Robredo in the recently concluded elections.

Kris was even the top contributor to the Vice President-elect’s campaign, donating a total of P30.8 million.

Robredo's standard bearer Mar Roxas and his family have yet to confirm his attendance even if after an invitation had been sent to them.

With the exception of the presidential sisters and Roxas, no other political bigwigs or famous personalities have been invited to Robredo’s inauguration at the Quezon City Reception House, where she will hold office.

“Sa kung sinasabing VIP, wala tayo talagang guest list para doon. In fact, walang reserved seats,” Hernandez said.

She said majority of the around 300 guests expected at the event are members of the marginalized sectors who have volunteered to help Robredo, such as fisherfolk, farmers and representatives from women’s groups. —NB, GMA News
