Robredo’s guests mostly for supporters, volunteer groups – spokesperson

The 300 guests of Vice President-elect Leni Robredo on her inauguration will be mostly composed of representatives from the different volunteer groups and sectors who supported her during the campaign, her spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Interviewed on GMA News TV's News to Go, Georgina Hernandez said Robredo's camp ensured all sectors are represented aside from the politicians who will be present on Thursday.

Hernandez added an interfaith prayer would also be officiated by different base sectors while ordinary citizens will lead the flag raising ceremony at the Quezon City Reception House.

Kris Aquino will represent outgoing President Benigno Aquino III at Robredo's inauguration as the other presidential sisters are likely to join their brother's exit in Malacañang.

Earlier, Mar Roxas confirmed his attendance at the inauguration of his running mate at the sidelines of the oath-taking ceremony of Cebu City officials on Tuesday.

Hernandez added a thanksgiving party will follow at the Quezon City Memorial Circle around 5:30 p.m. to accommodate supporters and well-wishers who were not able to attend the inauguration.

The attendees also include Robredo's former colleagues at the Lakas ng Kababaihan, barangay council members, and leaders of non-government organizations in Naga City.

What's next?

Meanwhile, Hernandez said Robredo, who is still without an official post, has been receiving many offers from the private sector and NGOs to help in her anti-poverty advocacies.

"Nakikita natin ito bilang tulay between yung private sector at yung grassroots communities. She will continue to be a champion ng mga advocacies na pag-unlad sa kanayunan para sa mga kababaihan, para sa mga kabataan. Nakikita natin siya as the convenor of multiple stakeholders from other sectors," she added.

Hernandez noted the Office of the Vice President is mandated to coordinate with implementing agencies and local government units to ensure their projects are transferred to the communities.

— Joseph Tristan Roxas/RSJ, GMA News
