Evidence sufficient vs. 2 ranking PNP execs linked to drugs —DILG chief

There is sufficient evidence against two of the three active ranking police officials being linked to illegal drugs, Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael "Mike" Sueno said Friday.

"Ready na kami sa dalawa," Sueno said at a press briefing, without identifying the two police officials. "Yung dalawa kasi dito sa NCR (National Capital Region) lang eh, so nakakuha na tayo ng mga ebidensiya."

"May prima facie evidence na pwede na i-try. We will start trial already," he added.

Asked on how soon they would file the complaints against the two, Sueno said, "Next week, next week."

"Yung isa pina-finalize pa namin, maybe it will take us seven or 10 days," he added.

President Rodrigo Duterte has earlier accused Police Director Joel Pagdilao and Chief Superintendents Edgardo Tinio and Bernardo Diaz of being protectors of illegal drug syndicates.

The three have denied involvement in illegal activities.

Aside from them, two retired police officials, namely Deputy Director Gen. Marcelo Garbo and Chief Supt. Vicente Loot, were also linked to illegal drugs by Duterte. They, too, have denied the accusation. —KBK, GMA News
