'ACCUSATION IS STUPID'

Cops won't waste time on cardboard executions, Duterte says

President Rodrigo Duterte in yet another midnight press conference denied that the police had any role in the apparent summary execution of individuals, who turned up dead with cardboard signs declaring that they were drug peddlers.

Duterte indicated that law enforcers would not have time to place the bodies of drug suspects in trash bags or sacks.

Many victims of alleged summary executions in recent weeks were also found with their faces wrapped in packaging tape.

Cardboard signs, telling the world they were pushers and should not be emulated, were placed near their bodies.

"I am losing two police or military man a day then the say genocide?" Duterte said of the allegations that the killings were endorsed by his administration.

"Tingnan natin kung may salvage-salvage pero yung patay na binalot sa mga sako, binalot ng plastic, the police, I assure you, would not waste their time on that,"

"The accusation itself is very stupid. It assumes right away na kapag may patay, gobyerno ang pumatay. Isali na lang ninyo yung may cancer, diabetes," Duterte said.

Sowing intrigue among pushers

Duterte expressed that it was wrong to attribute at least 1,000 killings of alleged drug personalities to the government.

"Eh di naubusan na kami ng bala diyan," Duterte said.

Duterte, nonetheless, said that he had early on ordered the sowing of intrigue among drug personalities--to arrest pushers and tell them stories that would make them turn on each other.

"Let them kill each other. After that, papasok tayo," Duterte said.

"We are not prohibited from using that kind of methodology or modality," he added.

'Even your toilet paper'

Addressing his critics like Senator Leila De Lima and the United Nations special rapporteurs that called for a stop in the killings in the Philippines, Duterte said the drug menace was a huge problem in the country.

He said there were three million drug addicts.

"Even those who surrendered, 600,000. Do you think it's a joke? it's a joke for you to tell me about human rights. Come here and solve the problem yourselves," Duterte said.

"I will fund you... even your toilet paper," he added. -NB, GMA News
