PNP implements Oplan Double Barrel Alpha

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will soon expand its anti-illegal drug campaign to schools, factories, and the entertainment industry through Oplan Double Barrel Alpha.

"Ngayon isinama na namin yung schools, yung mga work places, yung mga factories yung labor force doon pasukin na namin, yung entertainment industry, mga artista. Basta lumapad, marami na na-cover," Dela Rosa said at the Manila Overseas Press Corps Forum.

"Lumapad yung focus. Ang [Oplan] Tokhang operations noon related lang sa mga suspected na bahay ng drug users at drug pushers," he added.

Dela Rosa said the expanded version was discussed during their command conference on Tuesday morning.

He said the Oplan Double Barrel Alpha is effective starting Tuesday but will be fully implemented after the order reaches all PNP regional directors.

Oplan Tokhang is part of the Oplan Double Barrel introduced by Dela Rosa wherein police officers visit the houses of suspected drug personalities and ask them to mend their ways.

The PNP also set sights at high-value targets aside from suspected drug users and pushers.

The PNP also conducted Oplan Tokhang in posh villages of Makati City such as Forbes Park, Dasmariñas Village and Magallanes Village.

But instead of visiting homes of drug personalities, police officers distributed flyers that contain emergency hotline numbers and information about the government campaign against illegal drugs. — BAP, GMA News
