Dayan: No reward, not forced to execute affidavit vs. De Lima

Senator Leila de Lima’s former bodyguard and driver, Ronnie Dayan, on Thursday denied receiving any reward or being coerced to execute his affidavit where he admitted to accepting payoffs for his ex-boss.

After reading his four-page affidavit, House justice committee chair Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali asked Dayan if he received any monetary reward in exchange for executing his affidavit.

Dayan answered in the negative.

When Umali asked if Dayan was coerced into making his statement against De Lima, he answered: “No, your honor.”

In his affidavit, Dayan claimed receiving money for De Lima from suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa five times in 2014.

During his testimony before the House justice committee, Dayan said he collected the money from Espinosa and delivered it to the former Justice secretary.

"Meron po akong natanggap na pera mula kay Kerwin Espinosa para kay Secretary De Lima. Mga five times po. Ang perang ibinibigay sa inaabot sa akin,” he said. —KG, GMA News
