FOR HELPING IN PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN

Duterte: I'd give Sandra Cam work if she'd ask

BAGUIO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday said that he would give whistleblower and defeated senatorial candidate Sandra Cam a post in government if she asks.

The President told reporters after the launch of the People's Television Network (PTV-4) Cordillera Hub launch that he was informed about Cam's altercation with some airport staff where the whistleblower boasted about her upcoming position in Duterte's Cabinet.

"She helped me during the election. Prangka-prangka ako. Her behavior? Let the public judge it. Ako, tumulong siya. Tutulungan ko siya. Utang na loob iyan. She helped me during the campaign," he said of one of his senatorial candidates.

"Iyan ang promise ko. Tutulungan ko siya. If she would ask for a work, I will give her a work. It doesn't erase that because she was shouting there. That's her business," he added.

Asked what would be Cam's position in his Cabinet, Duterte joked: "Wala pa. Magpatay muna tayo ng gabinete bago--kumpleto na iyan eh."

In a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Cam allegedly lashed at an employee of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for asking why she was at the VIP lounge.

Cam allegedly told the airport employee that she will be a member of Duterte's Cabinet in three months.

A report by 24 Oras said Cam admitted that she raised her voice during the incident, but could not remember if she cursed at the NAIA employee.

She denied that she told the NAIA employee that she will be a member of Duterte's Cabinet and that she asked for a VIP treatment.

Cam added that a friend, who is a member of the airport's police force, offered her to stay at the VIP lounge while waiting for her flight and she accepted it because she fears for her security. —Anna Felicia Bajo/ALG, GMA News
