Small group of protesters call for Robredo's impeachment, resignation

A small group of protesters on Saturday gathered in front of Vice President Leni Robredo's head office in Quezon City and demanded for her impeachment or resignation.

Four people held handwritten "Leni Resign", "Leni Resign ASAP Pls" and "Oust Leni Now" signs, while another protester held a larger "Impeach Leni Resign" tarpaulin.

The protesters doubled in size within less than an hour. Actress Vivian Velez arrived with four other people, rounding the number of people who are participating in the rally to 10 based on photographs by GMA News reporter JP Soriano.

The Office of the Vice President has yet to release a statement regarding the rally.

Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on Friday said he is studying the possibility of filing an impeachment complaint against Robredo for "betrayal of public trust."

Alvarez said the possible basis for the complaint would be Robredo's recorded video, played during the 60th United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs held in Vienna, Austria last week.

Robredo revealed in the video the alleged "palit-ulo" scheme of law enforcement agencies in the Duterte administration's war on drugs.

Alvarez's revealed his plan to file an impeachment complaint against Robredo a day after Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano, an ally of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, filed an impeachment complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte.
