Duterte raises ax anew over official’s alleged corruption

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said that he would fire another official over alleged corruption.

Duterte made the revelation during the turnover ceremony of China's military aid in Angeles City, Pampanga.

"I am about to fire somebody from here. If it is proven that… Kung humingi siya ng pera, may opisyal dito na tatanggalin ko. In a few days, I’ll fire him," Duterte said.

"Sinabi ko sa inyo... you avoid graft and corruption because that is the very thing that has pulled us down all throughout the years," he added.

At first, Duterte did not provide any indication about the alleged corruption. He did so during his third speech of the day at the Manila Hotel.

"Kaya hindi tayo umaasenso, kasi puro magnanakaw ang nandiyan sa gobyerno halos. Lalo na diyan sa baba, kayong mga director, I will not hesitate to fire you, even if you have been there for the last 25 years," Duterte said.

"Avoid corruption during my time because I will never countenance it. Huwag ninyong gawain talaga sa panahon ko, uupakan ko kayo. Baka ‘yan pang baril ibaril ko sa inyo. Mga y*** kayo," he added.

Duterte later said that the corruption happened in Clark Pampanga.

“There’s somebody there sa Clark Air Base… I will fire him, maybe tomorrow. Kasi doon ang balita, locator, pagka maghingi na ng permit to start to contract, contractor starts to build, eh humihingi ng two million,” Duterte said at the 140th anniversary of the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association at Manila Hotel.

“P— ina, ako nagtitiis ako ng 130,000 na sweldo. Ikaw, two million kada pirma mo. Eh di palit nalang tayo ng trabaho,” he added.

If Duterte will indeed fire the the official, he will be the fourth to be removed from the current administration after National Irrigation Administration administrator Peter Laviña, Undersecretary Halmen Valdez, and Interior Sec. Ismael Sueno. —NB, GMA News
