Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Monday shrugged off the claims of defeated senatorial bet and former City of Manila councilor Greco Belgica that the Liberal Party was plotting against President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Haka-haka lang niya ‘yan. We find no proof,” Lorenzana said in a text message to GMA News Online.
Malacañang earlier said that any threat was a cause for concern.
Belgica earlier accused the LP of being behind a destabilization and an assassination plot against Duterte so he could be replaced by Vice President Leni Robredo.
He also linked the party to be behind the Marawi City crisis, which Lorenzana also disputed.
“Not true according to our own inquiry on our commanders in [M]arawi,” he said in a statement to reporters.
Belgica’s senatorial bid was endorsed by Duterte in the 2016 presidential elections. —NB, GMA News
