Duterte on Trillanes: I destroy him or he will destroy me

"He's bent on destroying me, so I destroy him or he will destroy me. Ganun lang 'yan."

These were President Rodrigo Duterte's words on Saturday about persistent critic Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, whom the chief executive has accused of having several bank accounts scattered in different  countries.

"I am giving you in a few days the number of deposits that he has with Chinese joint accounts. It's all over. Hong Kong, Australia, America," the President said in a speech during the closing ceremony of the 26th Mindanao Business Conference in Cagayan de Oro City.

Earlier, Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson posted images of documents, supposedly proof of Trillanes' offshore bank accounts. She later deleted her post.

Before the photos of the documents were deleted from her official Facebook page, they were screen-grabbed and aired on Cedric Castillo's report on GMA-7 news program "24 Oras Weekend."

'Isasampal ko sa mukha ni Duterte'

Trillanes has denied the allegation, calling the President's claims "fake news," and announced that he would sign a bank secrecy waiver on Monday and submit it to the Anti-Money Laundering Council for review.

"Aside 'dun sa waiver, mag-i-identify tayo ng bangko diyan, hihingi tayong certification sa kanila na wala, at ibabalandra ko iyan. Isasampal ko 'yan sa mukha ni Duterte," he added. — Margaret Claire Layug/BM, GMA News
