NCRPO ready for Sept. 21 mass protest

National Capital Region Police Office chief Director General Oscar Albayalde on Saturday said they are prepared for the protest actions that will be held in Metro Manila on September 21.

"Ang mga pulis nakahanda diyan. Ready tayo, ang CDM (Civil Disturbance Management) natin," Albayalde said.

He said the NCRPO has enough number of policemen to be deployed to secure and maintain peace and order during the protest actions.

Duterte had said that he may suspend government work and classes due to the planned massive protest on September 21, the 45th anniversary of the martial law declaration of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Activist groups, including the Movement Against Tyranny, are expected to launch a massive protest.

The Movement Against Tyranny had said it will hold a rally at Rizal Park (formerly Luneta) on September 21.

Meanwhile, Albayalde said the NCRPO has yet to make an estimate of the number of people who will join the September 21 rally.

He said he was sure that the lumads who are already in Quezon City will join the protest actions.

"Ang mga lumads na andyan po sa may Quezon City, alam po natin 'yan ang gagamitin ulit sa rally na iyan," he said. —ALG, GMA News
