The burden of proof goes back to President Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Wednesday, after Senator Antonio Trillanes IV was able to prove that his supposed bank accounts in Singapore do not exist.
“I take my hat off kay Sen. Trillanes. Very boldly talagang pinakita niya na kaya niyang i-disprove ang ‘di siya nag-hesitate. Ako, I admire him for that,” Lacson said in an interview.
Trillanes flew to Singapore to prove that the bank accounts he’s being accused of maintaining do not exist.
"Wala ito. Produkto ng isip ko ito. Tinanggalan ko talaga. Ginamit mo. Nag-issue ka ng waiver... Iba ang account number, iba ang totoo," Duterte said.
Burden of proof
But for Lacson, the burden of proof is now with Duterte if he wants the public to believe his other accusations against Trillanes.
“Ang burden of proof, lalong bumigat pa sa part ni Presidente. Dapat makita ngayon may existing account na may laman,” Lacson said.
“Malaking bagay. Kasi pag nagiba mo isa or dalawa, it follows na ang susunod may cloud of doubt. Paano mo ma-appreciate ang credibility ng susunod pang similar accusations?” Lacson added.
If anything, Lacson said the Singapore trip even “buoyed up” the credibility of Trillanes. — RSJ, GMA News
