‘Actual’ bank account Duterte links to Trillanes is invalid

Even the other and supposedly "actual" bank account number of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, as claimed by President Rodrigo Duterte, turned out to be invalid.

Duterte earlier admitted intentionally making up a wrong account number (178000296012) to fool Trillanes, who traveled to Singapore to prove no such account exists.

The President later said that the senator's actual account number was 11780-00281-60-2. He said the account number was earlier revealed by Communications Asst. Sec. Mocha Uson and broadcaster Erwin Tulfo.

A report in News To Go on Thursday, however, showed than an attempt to deposit money into this other account through the DBS mobile app was rejected because an "invalid account number" has apparently been entered.

The report said attempts were made to deposit money into the account under the names "Antonio Trillanes" and "Antonio Trillanes IV" but to no avail.

Trillanes was in Sinagpore last Tuesday to debunk allegations of President Rodrigo Duterte that he owns accounts in DBS branches there.

He presented the document being circulated on social media detailing his alleged DBS account numbered 178000296012.

The DBS bank told Trillanes that there was no such account.

Sought for comment, presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella had earlier said Duterte’s admission he made up Trillanes’ account number was part of his “unorthodox” and “out-of-the-box” style.

In response, Trillanes said: "Buti naman umamin siya na sinungaling siya [si Duterte]." — Jessica Bartolome/MDM, GMA News
